The site on Powlett Road, Hartlepool, was formerly a petrol service station, which meant that extensive groundwork had to be carried out before the the block of apartments could be constructed.
The loadbearing structure utilised a prefabricated interlocking insulated panel building system which conferred high energy and low waste efficiencies on the the building. The finishes to the apartments and communal areas were all to a high standard and well designed resulting in low maintenance and running costs.
The 16 apartments were built in a courtyard design with gated pedestrian and vehicle access to the rear door entries to the 3 blocks and rear car park .A principle aim of the development was to provide for all age groups and abilities a secure well lit environment, that would create a small cohesive community of residents that took pride in their homes. The fact that all apartments are either sold or let and considered desirable bears witness to the aims success.
